Candida diet food: Gluten & sugar free banana bread and balls

Candida diet food: Gluten and sugar free

Candidiasis is an infection caused by yeast called Candida that normally lives on and in the body and causes no harm. It can cause an infection in certain conditions - when the skin is damaged, when a child has a weak immune system. Medicine with antibiotics ( antibiotics for ear infections) can also cause the yeast to overgrow. This is because those medicines kill normal bacteria that usually prevent too much yeast to grow. My younger kid has Candida right now and I need to prepare him food without sugar or white flour.

In order to know whether you should consider Candida treatment, you should first be sure that you have it. How we found out that my son has Candida? He was sick with high temperature and diarrhea all the time. We took a sample of his poop to test it and results were positive. Since he has 4 years old, the doctor said to reduce it with food, no any extra medicament's.

What are the candida diet friendly foods?

What your kid can eat?

The diet should be based on fresh vegetables, fruits - especially sour (lemon, grapefruit), whole grains, meat, fish, eggs, unleavened integral bread, probiotic yogurt. Beverages include water, sugar-free lemonade, kombucha and unsweetened herbal teas. It is preferable to use apple cider vinegar as well as propolis (if the child is not allergic), garlic and herbs. You can use honey sometimes.

To sum all:
  • Vegetables growing above ground (except mushrooms)
  • Fish and other food from the sea
  • Lacto-fermented foods (homemade kefir, yogurt and homemade sauerkraut)
  • Eggs (homemade) and fats (butter, chicken, duck, beef and lard)
  • Onions, garlic, ginger, turmeric, herbs
  • All meat, offal and home-dried meat (bacon, prosciutto and sausages)
  • Lemon, avocado and green apples (green smith)
  • Bone soups - meat, chicken, fish and vegetable soups
  • Nuts and seeds in small quantities (no peanuts)
  • Coconut flour, coconut milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, stevia
  • Smoothie - mushroom juices made from vegetables and healthy fats
  • Water, herbal teas, lemonade
  •

Gluten and sugar free banana balls

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 100g coconut flour
  • 40g sesame

Instructions:

1. Chop the sesame in coffee grinder or chopper so that it has flour structure.
2. Crush the bananas, add coconut and sesame flour.
3. Mix all the ingredients well and form balls from the mixture.

Note: Instead of sesame you can use hazelnuts, nuts or almonds. (You can also add dried grapes, dates or carob, black chocolate or honey, but since this is recipe for Candida better to avoid it. This is just a suggestion in case you are not making these balls for Candida diet.)

Candida Protocol - Steps to Get Rid of Candida

  1. Build a healthy gut flora (probiotics, kefir, sauerkraut)
  2. Strengthen the body and immunity (coconut oil, probiotics, magnesium chloride)
  3. Destroy excessive growth (citrophyte, bicarbonate of soda, oregano oil, coconut oil)

Banana bread

Gluten and sugar free

I must say that my kid liked more banana bread than banana balls, probably the reason is that he didn't liked the sesame. This recipe is also super easy and fast to make. This banana bread is moist, tender, flavorful, and comforting and it can lasts for up to four days in the refrigerator.  If you haven’t tried banana bread yet, now’s the time.

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 bananas
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 table spoon of cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoon of extra virgin coconut oil
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 cup ground almonds
  • 1/2 cup coconut flour (finely ground, as a powder)
  • 1/2 bags of baking powder
  • 1/2 cup large sliced walnuts

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F).
2. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until completely smooth. Whisk eggs, melted coconut oil, salt and cinnamon.
3. Mix in all other remaining ingredients - ground almonds, coconut flour, baking powder, sliced walnuts.
4. Pour the batter into loaf pan.Bake for 35 mins.
5. Let the pan cool at least 10 minutes. Bread should be room temperature before slicing.

Tips:

  • Use extra ripe bananas for best results. They should have black spots and be very soft. They'll be easier to mash with a fork or potato masher.
  • You can turn this bread into banana muffins by baking the batter in muffin tins.
  • Gently fold wet and dry ingredients together with a spatula for tender texture.
  • If you like nuts, sprinkle them over the top of the bread instead of mixing them into the batter for a crunchy texture and toasted flavor.
  • If your banana bread is browning too much or too quickly, lightly tent the top with foil while baking.
