Eco-friendly Ortenia Apartments in Podčetrtek, Slovenia

In June 2017 we stayed at this beautiful place called Ortenia. We stayed there for 3 nights in one of their apartments. Apartments are located in Podčetrtek , a very small and quiet place in Slovenia. First eco-friendly apartments in Slovenia, designed using the principle of innovative sustainable construction. These apartments are build from natural materials,  energy-saving light bulbs are installed in all buildings. Heating for water and rooms uses a renewable energy source – water pumped from a depth of 80 meters. The water tank collects rainwater from the roof, which is then used to flush sanitary appliances and water outside areas.

The apartment we stayed in , I think is called Inocentia, was really nice. A 32 m2 suite with a living area and a sleeping area with a view of the Podčetrtek Castle and the surrounding area from the bed. Also it offers organic cotton bath robe, hypoallergenic pillows and duvets, one-of-a-kind handmade decorative cushions created by Slovenian designers as well as silk carpets. Here you can also find premium, certified organic, natural cosmetics as well a custom made furniture. You can stay for days here, everything is so perfect!

There is a terrace with beautiful views of the area and a private garden with garden furniture. The garden is full of hydrangeas. My kids played a lot there. It was safe to leave them playing in the garden. 

Riding lessons and excursions on horseback are organized on the surrounding farms. If you like golf you can attend golf lessons at the nine-hole Omilje golf course. There is also balloon ride if the weather is nice. 

Breakfast is absolutely amazing! Every morning you will receive a basket full of local specialties. The girls who work there will leave you one medium basket, outside of your room. All food is produced in local farms which is great so you can try fresh warm milk, fresh juice.  

If you like wine, you will be able to taste local wines and other wines from Slovenian wine growing regions. 

If you want to relax Ortenia offers massages and you have Infrared or Finnish sauna, Jacuzzi outside which we tried and it was so relaxing. 

The recreation room is equipped with an exercise bike, orbitrek, TRX straps, yoga pads and other accessories for maintaining your psycho-physical condition. The room also has audio and video equipment.

Overall it was a great experience staying here and  I would recommend to everyone to visit Ortenia - Apartments in nature.
